Sad, sad news announced yesterday when Plan B said their next issue would be their last.

They were one of the few magazines who had genuine passion and support for small independents like Holy Roar, and consistently featured the kind of bands I actually want to read about.

It kind of points to the whole ‘print magazines’ are dying thing, but the fact that there’s not enough ad revenue going round to support the digital zines means, I have NO CLUE what’s going to happen to the music press, in any of its guises.

What I do know is Twitter went pretty nuts with this news. A sign of the times. When is someone going to launch a Twitter only magazine?

Soz, busy times etc, but I have news! Tonight I will be djing on Diesel U Music (or DUM for short, good one guys) from 7-9pm. Alex was supposed to be doing it as well but he’s sick and in Gloucestershire.

I have a couple of guest co-presenters, Rolo Tomassi live doing an exclusive acoustic session and a lot of music to play (so I don’t have to talk much).

So you know this is pretty shameless and everything but Youves have seriously blown my mind more than pretty much any other band recently.

The reasons are three-fold.

1) Have you seen the artwork for the EP? No? Why not?

2) Chances are if you’ve seen Youves live 80% of the band are topless by the end of the gig. This is a good thing not because I enjoy gratuitous nudity but because often it results in girls with digital cameras going NUTS. Like last night. HOT STUFF.

3) Have you watched their video? It’s right up there.

Furthermore, they’re playing a the Great Escape festival next Saturday 16th May on the Holy Roar stage in Revenge at 8.15pm. My genius mega plan is to watch them and Ghost of a Thousand on our stage, then run to wherever The Old Market is to catch Gang of Four and potentially have the best night ever.

In conclusion, I love Youves.
